EXTREME PISTOL (IPSC) SECTION 2010 SCHEDULE DOWNLOAD EXTREME PISTOL 2010 SCHEDULE HERE
The blue highlights are match dates. Some have ? and that will change as we move ahead.
Right now, we have a Club IPSC match scheduled for Mar21.10. I will be the Match Director and it will be a basic match. For those who have just completed their IPSC Training Course, this match will be a great first match and/or warm up. Those with experience can knock the rust off their skills and guns and prepare for the season. It could be busy year shooting IPSC in BC so this is a good time to get prepped.
I will be sending this info out to those who are on the batch email list we use to advise of shoots/practices.
IPSC PRACTICE NIGHTS IPSC Committee practice nights have started and to prevent confusion about who/what/when/where, we are putting the schedule (above) on the IPSC Committee web page as it stands each time it changes. This will allow members to easily see if a practice is scheduled and who is responsible for opening/closing the range. The goal here is to be certain that when you want to practice you don't have to guess if someone will be there and/or call me:)
If you are a designate for the Club and can add your name to the schedule, please let me know and I will put that down and send the update to the web. This should be a help in sorting out practices.
The calendar shows a name, bold print and yellow highlight for the confirmed practices. The name of the person in charge is also shown.
IF THERE IS NO HIGHLIGHT AND NO NAME, THERE IS NO PRACTICE! Designates, let's try to flush out more dates please.
SWEET SOUND OF STEEL FEBRUARY 20, 2010 This was a tryout session for the Poco PPC shooters who used their holsters. They shot right after their PPC round and before the general members who came up to try without holsters.
The PPC shooters and the others times are mixed together to give a feel for the times only. Some names occur twice if the shooters did both sessions. A special thank you to David Porter for taking the responsibility for assembling these results numbers.
You can see the broad range of times. This might relate to the type of firearm, experience and more. The objective of the IPSC Committee in putting this on was to give Club members a tryout so they might determine if they wish to pursue shooting steel and/or Club matches. We hope you had fun and learned about shooting steel.
Watch for future tryouts but remember, these are "tryouts" not events and they are aimed at those who want to try something new.
For those who got hooked, good for us:) We are looking to you being more involved in your Club.
See you on the ranges.
Murray "DOC" Gardner.

POCO EXTREME CLUB MATCH FEBRUARY 21, 2010
BANG & CLANG #1 Before I get into this report, I must explain why it is later than normal and not what I would have preferred. I had a gig during the Olympics driving for Molson/Coors. Note the shot glass in the picture:)
No, I don't drink beer but they were a great company to work for and I encourage you to support them for the outstanding support they gave our Olympic games. If you lived in a cave then you didn't see how well our athletes did on behalf of Canada. I watched EVERYTHING and I don't like hockey but DAMN we did well. Who owns your Gold Podium now Baby?:)
This was the first match of the year for the IPSC Committee and it proved to be another success.
First, Mother Nature REALLY likes us! Sunny for both set up and match days. The usual crew of suspects showed up for set up but were joined by a bunch of new faces and set up was done in a heart beat. Pat Smith, Bill Hughes, Dave Jepsen and Mark Williston helped set up but were not able to shoot the next day due to work commitments. These guys are the core of this Club, be certain to say thanks the next time you see them. Also, thanks to all who attended, you make me proud to be a member of this Club.
You can see from the results that we appear to have a number of folks with scores under the magic 100 second mark. That is due not only to their great skill but Stage 5 had one less target than in the past.
The match was shot and put away by 1pm along with the cash prizes being awarded.Download results Here
The yellow highlighted names are not Club members. There were 15 of them of the 44 total meaning 29 shooters were Club members. Good turnout to support your Club.
We hope you enjoy these steel matches and this format will be used a few more times during the year. Come out and give it a try.
Here is one of the stages (thanks to Craig N. for the clip.) It involves 5 steel at 10m. This isn't the fastest it can be shot:))
